A Replacement Life

She lived an ordinary life.

It was worse than ordinary.

Her life was boring.

She wasn’t in a relationship.

She didn’t go out socially.

She had few friends.

A good night for her was TV and a pizza.

So she made up a life.

A life much more interesting than the one she had.

A replacement life.

A life with an amazing partner who showered her with gifts.

A life with lots of friends, and outings.

A life with weekends away with the family.

It gave her something to talk about to her work colleagues.

Something for them to envy.

But all the time,

she was going home to watch TV and eat pizza.
